Collaborating to deliver more products to patients

Sometimes only a small change can make a huge difference. Our team in Ireland made a strong collaborative effort, embracing a challenge together to improve the way they worked. Watch Paul’s story to see just one example of how we optimize processes in LEO Pharma.
LEO Pharma’s Irish production plants are located in Dublin and Cork, employing over 650 people including scientists, engineers and pharmacists who all work to supply products for today and for the future.

The team at the Dublin site was facing a challenge with processes slowing down the delivery to customers. The Dublin site found it difficult to sustain improvement initiatives. The result was to much firefighting to solve issues.

Thus, in order to avoid continuous firefighting, a new and more innovative approach was required. They introduced a new concept called Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) and not only did that dramatically improve the quality of documentation and halved the number of mistakes, it also enhanced the collaboration across multifunctional teams. All in all, the changes made were an excellent example of how, together, we use our initiative and ideas to constantly improve what we do and how we do it.
For me, pioneering is looking at what's already there and coming up with something new, but it's also looking at what isn't there and creating something new.
